Great Ideas Bloom In The Bubble

Georgia Products & Divine Intervention

By: Laura Soper

Dina Dennis and Sue Ann Murray grew up just a few miles apart in south Florida and now both live in Newnan, but the two women never knew each other until Dina’s son and Sue Ann’s daughter met through a local worship group. The two moms soon became friends and eventually business partners. Today the two friends own Bloom Organics Market & Boutique in Peachtree City. The story of how they got to point is truly filled with synchronicities and what they believe to be Divine intervention.

Soon after Dina and Sue Ann met and became friends, they both realized that they shared an interest in homeopathy and natural remedies. One day when Sue Ann wasn’t feeling well, she called her naturopath and asked him what he takes when he is sick. His immediate response was colloidal silver. Sue Ann wanted to give it a try and paid $33.00 for a small bottle.

It worked for her so she was sold on this product, but Sue Ann questioned why it was so expensive.  Her naturopath just so happened to know the man that owned the patent to this product so Sue Ann was able to work out a deal for unlimited rights to produce it herself. Sue Ann asked Dina to go into business with her, and coincidentally Dina was in between careers and her son had just moved out of the house. The synchronicities continued as each woman brings her own special qualities to the business. Sue Ann is the dreamer, and the “big picture” type; whereas Dina takes care of the administrative duties and more practical needs. Together these two women of faith launched their own online business selling colloidal silver products that were originally produced in Sue Ann’s basement. “Silver Armor” was born.

Silver Armor began as an online store and as a product sold on Amazon.com. In less than six months, the women expanded to the Peachtree City Farmer’s Market and then to the Serenbe Farmer’s Market. The demand for their products grew and after two seasons selling at the local markets, the ladies contemplated opening an actual store.  The two women prayed for guidance, and one door after the next continually opened leading them to their grand opening of Bloom Organics Market & Boutique in January of this year.

Silver Armor products are the biggest sellers at Dina & Sue Ann’s shop, and that bottle of colloidal silver that Sue Ann originally bought for $33.00 years ago now sells for $15.00 at Bloom Organics. They have also expanded their product line to include non-immune support uses for silver including deodorant, room spray, linen spray and cleaning products.

In addition to their own products, these entrepreneurs decided to support other small businesses and artisans by purchasing only Georgia-made products for their store. They sell locally produced honey, barbeque sauce, and jams as well as coffee roasted in Newnan and Fayetteville. One of their suppliers, Sweet South Organics, is a woman from Newnan who makes all-natural body washes, creams and scrubs. A husband and wife team from Pine Mountain make amazing all natural “bath bombs” that many of Dina and Sue Ann’s customers previously drove up to Atlanta to purchase at almost three times the price. Do you remember the fantastic tea shop at the Avenue that closed a few years ago, Tea Fusion? Now you can buy that same tea at Bloom Organics.  As I was browsing the market, I even saw my very talented neighbor’s products and works of art (gorgeous ceramics) filling one of the shelves.  All products are Georgia-made excluding the clothing in the boutique section of the store.

When you walk into Bloom Organics, relaxing music welcomes you to this gem of a place. Dina says that she truly feels that the Lord’s blessing is with them in their new venture, and she feels it every day as she works in the store. “Customers feel it too,” she says. Dina and Sue Ann stepped out in faith, and He has not let them down yet. Another example of the many synchronicities they have experienced along this journey is when at one point early on they could not afford to pay for the shipment of clothing they had ordered.  As they were fretting over what to do, the manufacturer called and said that several of the items were back ordered so they had taken those items off the list. This lowered the cost to almost the exact amount that the women had available to pay for the merchandise. As I finished the interview with Dina I asked her if there was anything else she wanted me to include in the article. Her reply, “Don’t leave out the God part! That is our whole premise!”

If you would like to visit Bloom Organics Market & Boutique, it is located in the Willowbend Shopping Center right off of Highway 54.  Afterwards, you can stop by Beautiful Earth Market for an awesome cup of coffee and then browse Sarah’s Home Design and Gift House. Also, the Mexican supermarket there serves authentic Mexican food and is currently getting rave reviews. With the addition of Sue Ann’s and Dina’s offerings at Bloom Organics, Willowbend is now a wonderful shopping and dining destination right in the heart of Peachtree City.
